Hansard is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy - the organisation responsible for deciding how and why it is used.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following kinds of personal data:

• Identity and contact data - your name, email address, phone number/WhatsApp number, and country, when you submit an enquiry or application form.
• Academic and application data - the qualification, course, university and intake you're interested in, your academic background, English-language test scores, and anything else you choose to tell us about your application when using our Apply Now, Contact, or Scholarships forms.
• Communications - the content of messages you send us by form, email, phone or WhatsApp, and our replies.
• Technical and usage data - your IP address, browser type, device information, and how you use this website, collected automatically as you browse.

We do not knowingly collect financial or payment information through this website, and this website does not have a user-account or login system.

3. How we collect your information

Most of the personal data we hold about you is given to us directly, when you fill in one of our forms (Contact, Apply Now & Check Eligibility, or a Scholarships enquiry), message us on WhatsApp or social media, or email us directly.

Some technical and usage data is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies as you browse the website - see “Cookies” below.

4. How we use your information

We use your personal data to:

• respond to your enquiry and provide the advice or service you asked for;
• assess your suitability for a course, university, foundation or scholarship programme, and support your application where you ask us to;
• send you information you have asked for about our services, universities, or scholarships;
• keep a record of our relationship with you and improve the quality of our advice;
• keep this website secure and understand how it is used, so we can improve it.

Our legal basis for most of this is that it is necessary to provide the service you asked us for, or is in our legitimate interest in running an education consultancy and keeping in touch with prospective students - in each case balanced against your own rights and interests. Where we send you marketing by email, we rely on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any such email or by contacting us directly.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

• universities or institutions you ask us to help you apply to, so far as necessary to support that specific application - never without your knowledge that this is part of the service;
• service providers who process data on our behalf, such as Resend, which delivers the emails our contact and application forms generate to our team - they are only permitted to use your data to provide that service to us;
• a professional adviser or authority where we are required to by law, or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim;
• a buyer, if Hansard's business or assets are ever sold or transferred - your data would be protected under this same policy by any new owner.

6. International transfers

Hansard also has an office in Bangladesh, and some of the service providers referred to above may process data outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we take steps to make sure it is protected to a standard consistent with UK data protection law, for example through the service provider's own contractual safeguards.

8. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal data we hold from being accidentally lost, misused, or accessed without authorisation, and we limit access to it to the people at Hansard who need it to do their job.

We keep your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry, support your application, and answer any follow-up questions - generally no longer than 3 years after our last contact with you, unless we are required to keep it for longer to meet a legal, regulatory or accounting obligation, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
• ask us to delete your data, or to restrict how we use it, in certain circumstances;
• object to us using your data where we rely on legitimate interest;
• ask us to provide your data to you, or to another organisation, in a portable format;
• withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent - for example, for marketing emails.

You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we would appreciate the chance to resolve any concern directly first.

11. Children's information

This website is intended for prospective university students, their parents and guardians, and education professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child has given us information without that consent, contact us and we will remove it.

This website links to third-party websites, including university websites and testing bodies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their own privacy policy before sharing any information with them.
